Kearny Bhoys Bio

The Kearny Bhoys were started in 2007 as a young U11 team, made up of Kearny boys who had been playing for other club teams outside of our town and a combination of players that had remained playing for Thistle F.C.

Coaches Steve Montanino, Bill Galka ( Kearny High School Head Varsity Coach ), Joe Ryan ( Kearny Soccer Legend ) and playing for Thistle F.C. took over an exsisting lower flight team and began the process of building a team which would be organized, trained and coached as were the great teams from Kearny's past.

It didnt take long for word to spread that a new team in that age group had been formed attracting some of our better youth players back to town whom were playing elsewhere.

In our first year the Kearny Bhoys improved from the D flight of the Northern Counties Soccer Association, to Flight 2 in the Mid New Jersey Soccer Association. In the fall of 2008 the Kearny Bhoys were promoted to Flight 1 in Mid New Jersey and competed and won the flight in spring 2009.

In the fall of 2009 the Kearny Bhoys joined CJYSA/MAPS and have competed there till this date advancing groups every season since then.

The Kearny Bhoys have won several tournaments through those years and defined themselves as a team when they took home the trophy in The YMS Columbus Cup Elite North Group. The Bhoys then went on to reach the Semi-Finals of the US club State Cup, New Jersey Cup in spring 2011.

Although we have had a few coaching and player changes along the way and now playing for a different club in our community, we can never forget our teams history and the things that continue to make us who we are today.

This spring 2012 the Kearny Bhoys have combined with another Kearny United S.C. team to play up as U16's and the addition of those players have made us even better. Everyone is looking to have a successful season with our new club and new soccer family.

The Kearny Bhoys were started to attract and develop players in the style of Kearny's rich soccer tradition. To this day that belief holds true and the players work hard knowing their roots and our communities history in soccer culture in our country as well as respect for all the great players who have lived and played here before them.
